EdgeGardTM/EdgeGardMAXTM Window Spacers

EdgeGardMAX™ and EdgeGard™ window spacer – Insulation matters. Protection from weather, condensation and your neighbor's leaf blower.

EdgeGard™ Spacer

Traditional aluminum box spacers use desiccant and sealant to divide two panes of glass and help ensure energy efficiency. With a more advanced design, Milgard® EdgeGard window spacers provides superior insulating properties and helps to reduce condensation.

Benefits to You

  • Conducts less energy = Maintaining a more constant temperature.
  • Reduces condensation = Limiting moisture and unsightly streaks.

EdgeGardMAX™ Spacer

This Milgard state-of-the-art window spacer uses an advanced all-foam design to stop heat flow and reduce condensation to improve energy efficiency and help extend the life of the glass unit.

Benefits to You

  • Conducts less energy = Maintaining a more constant temperature.
  • Blocks heat escape path = More year-round comfort.
  • Reduces condensation = Limiting moisture and unsightly streaks.
  • All-foam window spacer expands and contracts = Less chance of seal failure or stress cracks.
  • Reduces noise transfer up to 18 percent over all-metal spacers = Helps keep outside noise where it belongs—outside.
Foam

Foam: The Ultimate Edge – Think about what windows have to go through. They have to face extreme temperature changes all year. They're bombarded by UV rays, barometric pressure changes and nasty winds. Milgard has a simple way to give your windows an edge in improving energy efficiency, durability, comfort and value to your home. It's foam—a unique formula we call EdgeGardMAX spacer.

Blocks Heat Flow

Go Ahead. Pick It Up. – The all-foam formula of the EdgeGardMAX spacer blocks heat flow. This is important because windows lose and gain heat by conduction, convection, radiation and heat leakage. The EdgeGardMAX spacer blocks the path of heat flow.

Sound Transfer Reduction

Cut the Noise – Weather is not the only thing the EdgeGard and EdgeGardMAX spacers protect you from. They also quiet outside noise—barking dogs, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, screaming children, you name it. The closed cell polymer foam in the EdgeGardMAX spacer transmits very little sound compared to conventional spacers. It reduces sound transfer by up to 18 percent. That's why the EdgeGardMAX spacer is a popular option in Milgard Quiet Line™ windows.

Dual-seal Design

Two Are Better than One – When you double up, you get twice the protection. That's why we use a unique dual-seal design and a high-performance acrylic adhesive for its structural seal. Backed with a moisture vapor seal, the EdgeGardMAX spacer insulating glass lasts five times longer in durability tests than single seal units.

Expands and Contracts

Just Try to Bend It Back – The window spacer is designed to expand and contract, always returning to its original shape. This is great because without EdgeGardMAX spacers, windows have a tendency to develop stress cracks that can lead to seal failure. The EdgeGardMAX spacer's 100 percent memory formula will stand up to a wide range of temperatures and provides outstanding UV resistance.

P-1 Chamber Tested

The Best Spacer Around – All the EdgeGardMAX spacers meet the test many engineers consider the toughest: the P-1 chamber. One week spent in a P-1 chamber is equivalent to one year in the field. The EdgeGardMAX spacer survives 100 weeks in the P-1 chamber. In other words, EdgeGardMAX will most likely out survive you.
