Creating a Warm and Inviting Home: Tips from a Builder

In the American Dream Home, created by Gerald Rowlett and his builder firm Westlake Development Group, they wanted the home to feel inviting and to draw someone through the front door while keeping the characteristics of the homes architecture.

“Artisan and Contemporary”

Wood windows and accents, such as the custom cut railing, were chosen to provide an artistic touch and a more contemporary look.

“I feel like I could live here”

Adding in the Essence Series® wood windows and doors created a warm and comfortable space that made potential buyers say, “I feel like I could live here,” Rowlett told Milgard.

Rowlett’s favorite part of the project was bringing in fun products that were not commonly used. He loved the look of the Bonus room, which had two authentic pieces. The first was the addition of 1913 barn wood placed on the ceiling, which gave the room a natural, weathered look. The second item, which also served as a conversation piece, was an antique shoeshine stand.

“Quality never goes out of style”

When it comes to choosing Milgard, Rowlett mentioned, “Quality never goes out of style and with Milgard, the service is second to none. Nothing is better than being backed by a company that provides both.”

“Their product has versatility”

In addition to the American Dream Home, Rowlett had used Milgard Essence Series wood windows in other projects and said, “Their product has versatility since you can stain the interior wood. Plus it’s durable on the outside with a fiberglass exterior frame. Put that together with a great price and that equals a product I can stand behind.”

Essence Series windows and patio doors offer three different interior wood options that can be stained to fit your design:

As for the exterior, there is a plethora of colors to choose from for the sturdy fiberglass exterior:

This project has been very well received in the design community, winning a “Best of Houzz” award for Design in 2017.

With all the different options, there is no limit to the possibilities available with Essence Series wood Windows and patio doors. Wood is aesthetically delightful, with multiple ideas of use; the only limit is your own imagination.
