Harvest House was a Shelter Preservation project for the Home Builders Foundation/HomeAid Portland. Yamhill Community Action Partnership was looking for assistance with the Harvest House four bedroom shelter, located in Newberg Oregon. The facility provides a safe place for homeless families to stabilize and rebuild their lives on the way to self-sufficiency.
The siding had deteriorated to an unsafe/unhealthy level and large chunks of lead-based paint were falling off into the children’s playground. So, the homestead was in desperate need of repair. Milgard® Windows & Doors donated 22 Style Line® Series vinyl windows for the project.
The low maintenance vinyl and energy saving dual pane glass will help Harvest House with additional costs savings down the road, and the Milgard Full Lifetime Warranty was an added benefit.
Seeing people work together to do something good in the community made a project like this very rewarding for the members of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland. With donations including windows, siding, house wrap, insulation and paint, Harvest House became a beautiful, safe shelter that can serve over 5,000 people each year.
