Milgard's In-Swing Fiberglass Patio Door Now Available with Operable Sidelites and New Transom Styles

SAN FRANCISCO (June 17, 2009) - Milgard's new fiberglass in-swing patio door offers builders and remodelers a durable, safe and easy to use door product for all of their new and replacement construction projects. The new door line is now offered with operating sidelites and a variety of transom styles.

The two new transom style choices help create a beautiful glass entry and complement the in-swing door. Builders and homeowners can choose from a panel-glazed style that offers even sight lines with the doors and sidelites below, or a direct-glaze option that keeps the frame thickness to a minimum for optimal lighting.

Operable sidelites feature secure multi-point locking with thumb-turn operation and narrow framing for optimal ventilation and lighting. Fixed sidelites can be specified in the same narrow framing, or with standard framing that matches the sight lines of the door.

The new patio door line is as attractive as it is durable - extending Milgard's position as a complete source for high quality fiberglass windows and doors. Milgard pultrudes its own fiberglass, which is designed to withstand wind, snow and rain, without peeling, swelling, expanding, contracting, cracking or warping, the doors are also impervious to insects, salt, air and corrosion.

"Builders can now offer their customers the beauty and remarkable durability of Milgard's fiberglass patio doors in an in-swing option," said Scott Morgan, VP of Sales and Marketing for Milgard. "With the choice of our Ultra or WoodClad fiberglass with either vertical grain Douglas fir or mahogany interior, builders have a perfect option for every design consideration."

With its new offering, Milgard continues to build on its reputation of providing consumer-friendly, easy to use windows and doors. The in-swing patio door line features an intuitive, user-friendly 3-point locking system standard on doors shorter than 8 feet tall. For doors 8 feet and over a 6- point locking systems is standard. The hardware offers robust, tapered hooks allowing the doors to be pulled smoothly into the frame against the gasket for a tight seal - a comforting safety feature that homeowners demand.

The doors also feature designer hardware with stainless steel locking mechanisms to resist corrosion. The designer levers and full-length matching backplates offer a modern take on classic American door hardware design and are available in both painted and metal finishes.

The durable, easy to use lock also allows for auto-unlock from the inside with no deadbolt turning required to exit. With one downward motion all locking points are unlocked and the latch is retracted. An anti-slam feature prevents the hooks and deadbolt from extending when the door is opened, eliminating accidental damage to the door frame. Included on the new doors is Milgard's Full Lifetime Warranty including glass breakage.
