Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problems We have had nothing but problems with the vinyl French door that was installed in 2007. We have had it adjusted repeatedly and since the company that sold the Milgard doors and windows has gone out of business we have not been able to even get a phone call back to have this door addressed. Apparently they do not stand by their product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disappointed The SunCoat Max completely ruins an otherwise quality product (Essence with Douglas fur interior sashes). Not recommended for residential use. The dark green glazing has a modern industrial look. Looks awful on our Victorian home. Deceiving Milgard photo gallery that fails to depict how dark the glazing is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Be very, very patient The first order was returned because it was broken; delay #1. The next delivery was OK but the wrong pane was tempered so the new one is on its way and will be installed...later. Delay #2. I'm sure it will be done, eventually but delay, delay. The other slider barely closes - it has to be slammed. Hard. "It will ease up" they tell us. Sigh.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ISSUES WITH PRODUCT AND SUPPORT Purchased two sets of in-swing doors among other products. One set was fine. The second had a problem opening the active door and shutting it. It was scraping on the bottom to the point that the inside wood was being pulled away when the door was being closed. On 5/6/19 I called support. I was told that Milgard was not responsible for adjusting the door. I said I thought it was a defect because the installer had adjusted the door but she refused to dispatch a technician. I was asked for a picture of the part. I told them I did not know how to take a picture of the underside of the door without taking the door off the hinges and again requested she dispatch a technician. They again said no that the best they could do was ask for pictures and then review them. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told thatvthe supervisor was on vacation. She said she would send me an email address to which to send the pictures.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Quality Control Just finished framing and installing the French Slider for my personal home but have to say the quality is high, but also low. The advertised quality control is false marketing, too many issues missed to dismiss as a one off or an oddity in manufacturing. The door rollers have an adjustment Phillips screw but adhesive overflowed into the access hole on both and it was crazy hard to clean it without damaging the clear fir wood. The screws holding the frame/case were backing out and I had to use new/larger stainless screws to secure before I installed. One glass wood trim is milled so poorly you can see the mis fit from 6 feet away. The screen door was missing the lock mechanism. Just know that you need to be aware, and Milgard.... you need to hold up your end if you say your QC is top priority

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed! We have been in our home about 7 years now and we noticed that our great room windows were looking filmy and then realized that the seals were gone. When we had a window company to come out and give us a quote for replacing the windows, we were shocked that the dates on the current window were from 2006 and 2011 (talked to the previous owner and found out the windows were installed in 2006, but they had to have some of the window windows replaced in 2011 due to broken seals). I contacted Milgard in Colorado and was transferred to a Customer Service Department. The first call was pleasant, the representative asked me to email the serial numbers and dates of installation from the windows. We provided this information the same day and did not hear anything back. We emailed the Service Department about three days later, still no response. We called back about two weeks after the initial call and was told that the window industry is "scratching their heads" trying to figure out how to stop seals from breaking and that they would research our address and get back to us. We did receive an email back, stating that because we are second homeowners, the warranty expired in 10 years, so we are out of warranty and gave us a number to a service repairman that we could use. We understand how this all works, but as a company, I would not be proud that our product did not last 13 years (8 years for the windows that were installed in 2011). We did ask to have a manager call us, but not surprisingly, we have not heard anything back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality Ont thing I do not understand is that the looks like it should open 4 inches wider but there is a block that prevent it and the handle is also in the way the last 2 inches. For the total width of the door the opening seem narrow. Not ag good feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice. Just had my windows installed. Even though the handles are a simple design I am very glad had them installed; it certainly adds to the ease of properly closing the window.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trouble latching We purchased several windows. Most operate without a problem but with the wider windows, I cannot get them to latch properly without a great deal of difficulty. I tend not to even open them anymore and am waiting for a Milgard representative to come out and inspect them

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Patio Door, AverageQuality Control Purchased and had installed an Essence Series french door-style patio door to replace an old vinyl slider. Fiberglass exterior with clear fir wood interior. Door is very solid and looks good, particularly the warm wood interior finish. Unfortunately, there are quality control issues on this door that prevent me from giving this 5-stars. First, the weather stripping on the hing-side of the door was damaged upon arrival allowing light and air to move between the door and frame. I am currently working with warranty services to get this item replaced. Second, center mullion between the two door halves, was cut about 1/4 too short leaving a big gap between the top of the mullion and the door frame. The repair tech's solution was to fill the gap with sealant which will probably just fine but would have been avoidable with better quality control. Third, the finish on the hinges and the door handles don't match. They are suppose to both be finished as brushed nickle but they are two different colors.Though this is a cosmetic issue, I would have preferred they match 100% but they don't It looks like handles and hinges were sourced from two different vendors. Nice door overall, but I can't rate them any higher than 3-stars due to average quality control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful windows, chunky frame These windows are very nice, feel solid and meet the stringent CA energy efficiency standards. Glad I got them, but wish I'd realized how chunky the frame is. It's basically almost four inches on each side, so you lose a lot of light. Exterior is contemporary looking and very nice. I'll order the same for the rest of our remodel, but will go with the larger size.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful but doesn’t close They look great but they came with wrong hardware and were hard to close. When someone came to replace the hardware and fix the shutting issue they made the closing worse and the door won’t lock at all. Still waiting on the 3rd trip to our home to be scheduled and sincerely hope they can fix the doors so they open close and lock smoothly. Otherwise what did I spend all this money on?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Customer Service and Quality Control Ever!! Used Milgard replacement windows 10 years ago and liked them. Ordered two more double-hung windows in July 2018. Both arrived with the wrong springs so would not stay open (a problem that should have been recognized at the factory because tempered glass was used) and did not have a finger hook/sash lifter for the top window. Three weeks later a tech came to figure out what the problem was and ordered parts. Five weeks later the correct springs were installed but the sash lifters were the wrong color. Eight weeks after that the wrong lifters were sent (for slide-by windows), along with another set of springs that weren't needed. Now we're told we'll have to pay to have the lifters installed because they weren't part of the original order. Why does the upper moveable sash not automatically have a lifter included when the lower sash does? Our previous replacement windows had an upper lifter. Why aren't sales personnel warned of this issue (we weren't offered finger hooks/upper lifters as an add-on). The very narrow frame of the upper window at the lock makes the upper sash almost impossible to move down without a finger hook. It is now the end of January 2019 and the windows still aren't right! Note that it took at least 8 weeks each time to get new hardware and 10 weeks to get the custom windows in the first place. Does that make any sense? The only positive thing I can add is that the technicians who came to the house were pleasant. One star rating only because I couldn't rate 0 stars. We will never use Milgard again and recommend you don't either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning- Do Not Buy Swinging Doors From Milgard I had four Essence and one Tuscany swinging door installed September 2018. Total cost $10,000 before installation. The 3 - 0 doors actually have doors that are only 34" wide! When did a 3-0 door become 34" ? The doors were very difficult for the carpenters to install and once installed did not close or lock properly. They required strong slamming to latch properly, which caused the house walls to shake. The locking mechanisms were too tight and misaligned to twist properly into their locking slots. Milgard repair technicians came out and adjusted them and replaced some of the weather stripping and actually filed on the latch hardware in an attempt to make the doors close and lock. They were "OK" for a few days, however soon failed again to close or lock properly. Another Milgard technician came out and looked at the doors and agreed with me they are a faulty product. Apparently these swinging doors are a relatively new Milgard product that they sell very few of. He replaced the weather stripping on one door and said there was nothing he could do for the other four - so I am stuck apparently with faulty, poorly designed products for which this manufacturer is basically saying too bad for you!! For $2000 per door they should open and close and lock by themselves - but instead they do none of this even when Milgard's trained technicians are operating them.
