single hung windows

Single Hung Windows

The single hung window, often referred to as a sash window, is easy to slide up and a standard choice for modern home construction.

single hung window

In the single hung window, the bottom sash moves up to open and allow in air flow. The top sash is fixed. Since it opens and closes without protuding, single-hung windows are an excellent choice for rooms facing walkways, porches or patios.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far I love them. We have just gotten and installed our window. So far I'm very happy with it. The windows go up and down very smoothly and look great. The part that really sold me was the window latch. It locks when you shut it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to install easy to use I was challenged to find a window that meets the new California eneergy code and still fall within the budget. I had used tuscany windows on several of my commercial projects but had not ever used them for my own use. I was an Andersen customer for years. Anderson did not offer the configuration that we needed and would match our existing Tuscany french doors in the house. We will be purchasing more of this product as we continue remodeling around the other exterior walls of the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great windows We purchased 8 windows and installed them ourselves. Installation was easy. The windows fit perfectly in place of the old ones and looked very nice. We noticed the chill in our home was gone almost immediately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warranty is a sham - sole reason I bought Milgard Put Milgard in 1M+ home I built, in 2012, 5 years later getting manufacturing stress cracks that are covered undered warranty. Builder convinced me to go with Milgard because of the quality and warranty even though the colors weren't great. I read the warranty carefully, looked at reviews to see if Milgard really honored their warranty, then put Milgard exclusive throughout the house. Regret doing so. If you read the warranty Milgard says they warranty against manufacturing and materials. Not the case, manufacturing stress cracks they won't even talk to you about blaming instantly on handling and installation, they don't even look at the window before jumping to this conclusion. So what do they warranty? Now I am stuck explaining to my wife why we got Milgard for the warranty but they won't warranty their poor craftsmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product meet all our requirements. We bought the milgard single-hung because it matched the style and color of our existing windows. The single-hung windows were installed in place of solid pane windows for added air flow in our home. The end result has been excellent and we were pleased with overall cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lifetime Windows and Doors in Portland, Oregon installed Milgard Tuscany’s for us in our home. We couldn’t be happier. The product is excellent and the install was seamless. They showed up when they were supposed to and couldn’t have done a better job. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was very impressed with the employees who came out The employees were first rate. Very professional and careful where and how they worked. The product is fabulous. I purchased four windows, I'm going to have the rest of home replaced, next month. Being retired, I have to budget my money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has great features. My favorite feature is the thermal efficiency of the low-E glass. Even when it's hot outside, the interior of the house remains comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very clean look and great value My partner and I are very happy with our Milgard windows. We replaced nine windows in our house and have noticed increased cost savings on natural gas for both winter and summer months. The windows look clean and give our home a more updated feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These windows are easy and look great. We just recently purchased and are very pleased thus far. This product has certainly cut down on outside noise, which is great. Also, it doesn't seem as though our air conditioning is having to be set as high. We are very anxious to see how they retain the heat this winter, as we've been heating the outdoors for years. The windows look very clean and look great that we don't even want to place our old blinds and curtains back up that we've had to purchase new. Thank You, Paul & Nita S.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge upgrade to our old aluminum windows Love that there's no separate mechanism needed to lock the window. If the window is closed, it's locked. The dark colored aluminum frames were a great upgrade to the look of our house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra is excellent The Ultra windows are definitely a step above vinyl windows. They are much more rigid and solid than vinyl windows, and the appearance alone conveys a sense of sturdiness. There's also more detail on both the interior and exterior of the frame than with vinyl windows I've seen. I am hoping that they will not discolor or warp, which has happened with vinyl windows I've purchased.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very expensive... disappointing workmanship We just had our 20 year old Milgard doors and windows replaced with the new Milgard Tuscany series. The single hung window looks good from a distance. The problem is with the workmanship. The tape between the glass, on one of our windows, isn't seated all the way across the bottom, so the "tape" is fully exposed on the right edge of the window (on the inside of the glass!). Additionally, the windows are sloppily put together--with adhesive and vinyl shavings to be scraped off. One of our single hung windows is missing the window "stops" at the top. I'm hoping all these things can be addressed, but it's a hassle. What happened to Milgard? I thought they were the best in this area. We spent more to get the Milgard windows... regretting that decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great windows, great installers, fair price! I am very happy with my Milgard windows. I live in an old farm house with the original windows still in place. The new windows are great. The sun and sound are now minimal. Hopefully we will see a reduction in our air conditioning bill. Thank you Milgard!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love our new windows! We are replacing our 28 year old Milguard aluminum windows with new vinyl windows. We again went with Milguard, because they did stand behind their windows when we had three problems in 28 years. Very important to us is the guarantee and knowing that there will be service if we ever need it. The Tuscany windows had a nice solid frame and fit our openings perfectly. They have nice locks and slide easily. Jim H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product at Fair Prices. The estimate process was easy and the rep. was on time and professional. I was given a 2week to 2.5 week leadtime and I received a call after 1.5weeks to make installation appointment. The installation crew was on time, professional and courteous, very clean and organized work crew of 2. Half of the windows were the wrong size, so I had to schedule a second installation about 1 week later. Windows look great and work well, very happy with the product and overall experience. Will repeat and I recommend the product and vendor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Windows Love my new windows, they are not so expensive and the very nice, our home feels so much cooler now that we have the new windows installed. The Warranty covers parts and labor for the Tuscany series windows even if you have installed your own windows, one of the best features is that you can customize to your perfect window. I ordered all our windows when I had received recommendations from many realtors in my office.
