Ultra Series Operating Styles

  • Single Hung
  • Horizontal Slider
  • Casement
  • Awning
  • Picture
  • Radius
  • Bay & Bow
Single Hung

Single Hung
Chose a single hung window for venting and daylight. The bottom sash is operable and opens by moving upward. Pulling downward closes and locks the window. Ultra Series fiberglass single hung windows have two choices for hardware: a Positive Action Lock or Cam Lock.

Horizontal Slider

Horizontal Slider
Horizontal sliders are a common window style. Choose from a left or right side operable sash to allow airflow into any room. Ideal for windows facing a balcony or patio because they do not protrude toward the exterior of the home. Great for replacement window and new construction jobs.

Casement

Casement
Choose a casement window for maximum ventilation in your home coupled with an unobstructed view. They hinge on the side and open just like a door. This window style comes with a folding nesting handle set.

Awning Window

Awning
Looking for a window that opens at the top? Ultra Series fiberglass awning windows open outward with a top hinge that allows airflow but keeps the weather outside where it belongs. Awning windows come with a folding nesting operating handle.

Picture Window

Picture
Picture windows are the best way to frame a beautiful view. These inoperable windows let in natural light and can be used in combination with operable windows if airflow is desired in a particular room.

Radius

Radius
Ultra Series radius windows come in operable or inoperable styles. What sets them apart is the curved feature, which can be a simple arched top or even a circular window shape. A beautiful and elegant option, radius windows can also have grids added.

Bay and Bow

Bay and Bow
Bay windows are three-segment units that expand your space to the outdoors. Bow windows are four or more equal-width panels that create a dramatic, curved space in your home. Add operating styles for airflow in addition to daylight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Door. This door is more solid that he solid door that we replaced. I didn't think that possible. We absolutely love it!! it looks perfect like it always belonged there. The added screen feature we are for sure going to love this summer! Everything came pre-installed, all we did was put it in the hole in the house, and poof it was perfect! My only problem was figuring out how to operate the handles. That was a learning curve, as we had no directions included with our door. When we figured this out, it was a very impressive door, with amazingly secure feel. Would order from Milgard over and over! Thanks!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking windows, service less than ideal The black fiberglass windows look great, and I believe they will be great for insulation. However, when purchased, the wrong color latches and strike plates were installed, and we're still waiting for the correct color strike plates 3 months later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Black Bean Frame Installed for a new build. Interior and exterior in black bean, casement, picture, slider windows. It's a strong and durable framing and the casement mechanism looks durable. One thing to note since various trades that have come through after window installation:drywall, paint, finish carpentry etc, somehow a few nicks occurred in the window frame. In black bean, the white specks show up and it looked like paint specks but i learned sadly it was the black bean baked paint had been nicked through to show the white underlying structure. I did not notice until the windows and house was CLEANED from the construction dirt/debris. I love the look of the frame and did not install additional trim inside the window openings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Abosolutely amazing Just got this window installed and I could not be happier with the result. I have looked at many windows and my wife and I decided to this one out. The biggest difference between most windows and this one was the look of the frame. You can tell the quality if far superior to most windows. I will never recommend anything but milgard

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made Window These windows are so well made. I'm completely happy with them. They were fabricated without a flaw. The sound transmission thru them is so much better than the previous Aluminum sliders. I would definitely recommend these windows to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great French doors that come with multi-point lock We installed two sets of Ultra Series Out-Swing French Doors, and they're wonderful. They come standard with a great multi-point lock system that easily locks both the active and passive door using the handle (rather than having to slide a bolt into the jambs). The multi-point lock also snugs the door up against the gaskets to seal it well. We looked at lots of brands of French doors, and the Ultra doors have the biggest viewable glass area, and have a flat frame around the glass (not a raised lip), which looks a lot better. The fiberglass frame also seems sturdier than vinyl, and is paintable. The doors comes standard with the handles and lock hardware, but it's expensive (about $250) to upgrade the handles to a metal rather than painted finish. But the painted black handles look nice, pretty much like dark bronze.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer Service I had a Milgard picture window installed. The window I believe may be defective and also was scratched. Milgard would not send some one to look at it. Basically said it was my problem. They told me to go back to the dealer. Their customer service was terrible. For a large American corporation this is unacceptable. I spent a lot of money on this window and wouldn't do it again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Veneer Peeling Off Our Wood Clad windows are 12 years old. When the first veneer started peeling off several years ago (while still under warranty), I got the run-around from Milgard customer service. I was told to contact Milgard providers in the area, none of whom responded. Now 6 of the 10 windows have veneer that is completely off or is loosening. The windows still function reasonably well, but would not get Milgard again. Neither the product nor the customer service has held up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as what we saw in the showroom When paying over $3K for a standard size sliding glass door plus another $2,500 to install, we expected quality throughout. The door slides so stiff my wife needs two hands to open/close it. The demo-door at Home Depot slides effortlessly. The hardware is builder-grade and the installer used MDF twice the width of what we had. A light switch close to the prior millwork (stained, real wood) was partially covered by the new, wider molding which required the installer to cut the switch-plate cover in order for it to fit. We're happy to have our damaged door replaced, but when our front door gets replaced, we will not be using Home Depot and when we replace 7 windows this summer, won't be using Milgard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The doors are OK, but the service is terrible. I've outfit my entire home with Milgard products, including three Ultra Series Out-Swing French Doors. One of the window seals failed and when it rains, water streams into the home. It took me 4 months to schedule a warranty visit. When the arrived, they removed the window and purported to fix it -- but the fix failed. It took me another 4 months to get them to come back (and that was only after soliciting help via social media). This time, they said they would need to replace the door. It took them another 2 months to return, but they brought the wrong hand door. It's been another 2 months and I can't even reach a human on the phone. It doesn't matter much if the products are beautiful if the warranty service is an illusion. Very, very disappointed and considering all options on how best to get this resolved and hold Milgard accountable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love my windows We love the look of our new windows and the small mesh of the screens. One complaint we have are the PLASTIC tabs for the screens and the PLASTIC pins for the awning window screens. Why would a company put in PLASTIC for this. The day we got our windows installed, two of the tabs were already broken! Other than that, they look fantastic and we would purchase them again. Took off one star because of that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Strikeplate is wrong size! It is very disappointing that I cant use my brand new doors because they made a mistake in measuring strikeplate opening so door doesn't work! It is currently taped shut waiting for milgard to come and fix it. So what do I think Milgard asks? I think it is outrageous that we paid $8000 for doors and they dont work. I gave it 2 stars because they are pretty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ultra Sliding door does not seal out weather This is our second house with Milgard the first was fantastic. We bought an Ultra slider in our new house because we wanted a more upscale finish. Well as soon as it got cold the wind blows right through the two doors as well as the top. I had Milgard out and they said it was structurally sound and they could not do anything. How can you sell a door that does not even stop the wind from coming through. I am spending much more heating my house than the old warped wood door. I would not buy the Ultra Fiberglass product it does not work. So disappointed as I had the whole rest of the house to do and now it won't match..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brand New House My eleven new casement windows were installed last week. They look beautiful. They appear sturdy and utterly modern. I'm very happy. I'm also happy with the workmen from California Window and Door. They took 3 days to install and were professional and detail oriented. They also cleaned up every night before leaving. However, Milgard mixed up the order on one of my eleven windows and fabricated the wrong size. I'm now waiting for the new final window and I have not been given a timeline. That's unfortunate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ULTRA SERIES is the way to go I'm a retired contractor and I put the Ultra fiberglass series in my house. I love this product. The cost is more but definitely is worth it. I live in a northern climate and prefer this product over vinyl every day of the week. Love the warranty also.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not up to par for what we paid We are working with our (excellent and reputable) installer, who took photos to document these issues, as we need to get the mitered pieces replaced and reaffixed to the glass, as the blades used to cut them were probably dull or the cuts were careless, resulting in splintered edges and uneven edges/seams where two pieces meet. The edges did not meet one another on the outside of the windows, and there was too much give in the glass. Each of these windows was over $3500, with multi-lights, and it was definitely in the manufacturing where the issues lie. This is a 1938 house and we needed to replicate the original style. We have all other Milgard windows in the house, and this was really disappointing. For Milgard, we were definitely expecting attention to detail, pride in manufacturing and better quality craftsmanship. We now have to wait to paint and get the windows finalized by a Milgard representative.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 7 weeks for damaged door I paid nearly double the cost of other doors to have a damaged door delivered. Door doesn’t close very well. Watch out for these patio doors. Maybe Millard should be a bit more selective about their dealers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth working, beautiful looking. Every feature of these doors delights me. They are so beautifully put together. Simple styling ensures they don't detract from the view, but frame it nicely. The locks make me feel so much more secure-an important feature for our location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love the ease of opening the new casements. Our Ultra (fiberglass) windows were installed about a month ago and we love them. The 2 tone (black bean exterior and white interior) really dress up our home. We selected the 90 degree opening for safety purposes and sliders in the lower level family room as easement windows. Our old windows never opened as the cranks were broken, plus they didn't lock. I feel much safer with these new windows, knowing they will lock and, if there's an emergency, will open easily and quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So great so far We installed 32 all new windows and a set of patio doors a month ago to replace original wood windows from 1941. The difference in interior temperature, noise level and aesthetics is remarkable. The windows function as they should, though I'm hoping the single-hung sashes slide easier over time. I was hesitant to choose black for both inside and out, and so far I'm glad I did (ask me again in 10 years). Service has been incredible - one window frame's metal clip arrived broken and I just received about a dozen replacements in the mail. We have some experience with Milgard from past projects, I may now be a customer for life.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Door We wanted a quality door for our patio, owning our Handy Man business seeing a wide variety in the quality of products available and had to agree with Shota at Heritage Doors of San Jose that the Milgard door he recommended was the best choice. We just completed the install and are delighted, not only with the great looks and ease of operation but it was a breeze to install as well.
