Rated 5 out of 5 by i am a professional installer. I have installed about 12 of these in the last month. I was initially attracted to the texture of the surface. It was not all glossed out like vinyl doors. The working mechanisms are about the same, with the stainless steel 3 point locking system, the lift lever latching, with the sidelights with lever handleset, and the adjustable hinge system. But, the major point that sold me was the ease of replacement glass if needed. On wood French doors, generally, they can't just replace the glass, the whole sash or full panel must be removed. which means staining and lacquering, or new prime and paint will be needed. The frames are stiffer, and reduce the possibility of snapping a corner during transport. Easy to square-up due to the stiff side frames. I could go on and on, but I think they are a great product, and no issues. Why would anyone use wood doors? South facing house Vs. North. no worry of rot, pests or kid damage. March 21, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by defective door, still waiting service call Door was awesome on install and looks super sharp. However, it has a spot in a seam where water has seeped through twice during heavy rain and wind. My initial contact with Milgard netted me an email on condensation, which this obviously was not (I had sent in pictures). I scheduled an appointment with a service guy for 2 months out (apparently they are very busy) from Milgard: they said they stopped by during the service window but I never saw them (and was sitting near the front door the entire time). I have re-scheduled 6 weeks out from last appointment and am currently waiting. Again. Overall I think the door is good, but can't confirm yet since it has an obvious flaw that hasn't been addressed yet. February 18, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Tuscany French Doors - the worst They looked good online, but the delivered product was simply terrible. Manufacturing defects left a large gap between the two doors in the middle (top and bottom have a tight match), barely engaging the locking mechanism. Service technician acknowledged a manufacturing issue after seeing them, and is ordering new doors, but that is 5-8 weeks to replace!! The door tops are completely uneven inside the frame, again really poor manufacturing quality. Absolutely not worthy of a formal dining room. Lastly the locking mechanism is not intuitive at all. We read the instructions, and then twice my wife and I thought we had set the deadbolt on the doors (and we can see it engaged), but our daughter walks right into the house through an unlocked door - complete safety failure. Not happy. Cannot recommend this product. November 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the look of the door in the formal living room We looked for French doors for a long time because the original slider was huge and many companies would not work with us in doing what they considered a "custom" size. Milgard came to the rescue. The door is beautiful and it effortlessly expands the space from indoors to an outdoors. The only suggestion I would have is to give an option of having a screen installed in between the two main doors. As much as we like to keep it open, we have a cat and we can't do that without risking her escaping. We will probably look into having an invisible screen put in at some point. The door is beautiful, though. It transformed the entire room. May 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well built and looks great The outside fiberglass is great. Resists the elements and looks nice. At the same time the interior wood is beautiful. I finished mine with a white wash and clear coats. April 8, 2012
