TACOMA, Wash (April 9, 2010) - Kim Flanary, Director of Engineering at Milgard Windows & Doors, has been recognized by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) with its Marketing Distinguished Service Award for 2009. The award is presented to a single individual who has exhibited leadership and outstanding service in marketing the fenestration industry's standards.
AAMA is the source of performance standards, product certification and educational programs representing products that fill openings in the building envelope designed to permit the passage of air, light, vehicles or people. The award was presented at the organization's 73rd Annual Conference Awards Banquet in Palm Desert California.
The award was presented to Flanary by the 2008 winner, Joe Hurns of Mikron, who noted the importance of these contributions as they serve to further the fenestration industry as a whole.
"Kim is an avid supporter of AAMA marketing efforts," stated Hurns. "His efforts have been characterized by looking to where the future of the industry lies, contributing to AAMA's position on evolving cutting-edge issues."
Flanary initially participated in AAMA as part of the AAMA Western Region. He currently serves as Board President for that group, but broadened his efforts to AAMA national activities in 2005. He has worked diligently in AAMA marketing-related committees and task groups, as well as continued involvement in education development efforts. He currently serves as the co-chair of the AAMA Marketing Steering Committee that oversees all of AAMA's marketing activities.
