Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warranty! Our large kitchen window that we purchased over 10 years ago became foggy. Contacted Milgard and they came out and replaced it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Milgard is not what they say! Where do I start. (In my opinion) First we ordered and had installed the great Milgard vinyl windows that (if you listen to their recoding while waiting on hold) stand up to all environments, you will be disappointed. After a inadequate install (not Milgard's fault) the vinyl tan framed windows started discoloring and started looking like they were 20 years old after only a year. Their service people come out and say on multiple calls that it wasn't right. One service person took 45 minutes to rub out a 48" section and told us that is what we would have to do. Now we have two tones on our GREAT Milgard vinyl windows. Finally, they state that they would test the material for defect either material or environmental. So they take in interior window sliding part for testing that showed NO damage. This being that we had heard multiple different opinions that the vinyl comes from the same run of material no matter which window was being manufactured or a whole other run. I believe the latter but if true, I was lied to. Now let me say the windows did all come at the same time and were also different types of windows but were all tan vinyl so it is hard to believe that to be true being completely difference style windows with the same issue. RESULTS OF TEST after consulting their LEGAL department. Really legal department was needed. There was not defect in material and it was environmental. I don't live in the desert and I don't live on the sea coast. I live in middle California where the weather is great year around. Milgard windows must need a winter break or something. Results they will DO NOTHING. Should have know better. As I continue Ordered Milgard Essence door and sliders. Thought (NOT VINYL) Wrong, different problems with the great Milgard warranty. First ordered the doors and were a month late for delivery. Held up construction in winter. Sucked pretty cold with boarded up house. The single door was good. The 12' slider looked great but was damaged. We had it installed anyway. It was winter and did not want to live with boarded house another 8 to 10 weeks. The 6' slider was good to start. The doors really look nice and it helps make my room. Now the problems. The damaged slider replacement came in 10 weeks. DAMAGED. Waited for another 8 weeks. DAMAGED. Now flaws are showing up in the sliders. The wood interior frames started separating from the glass. ALL OF THEM. Sort of like a warping and a 1/4" to 3/8" gap. Milgard recognizes the defect and orders all new sections. We have to wait not 6 weeks, not 8 weeks but 12 weeks to get these replaced. They replace the complete 12' slider (which had been painted) Service guys were great but now I have an unfinished door and Milgard makes no offer to cover the paint. They replace the solid section on the 6' slider. Now I notice another flaw in the warping on the 6' slider. Here we go again. Maybe I'll finish my remodel in another 10 weeks??? RIGHT. What have I learned? I have the remaining 1/2 of my house windows to replace. Since I started with vinyl, I needed to stay with them. I did just that I ordered another brand period. I also replaced one of the (my opinion) damaged faded Milgard vinyl windows that was the main focal point of my dining room that looked like junk. With another brand. If Milgard was not going to honor their warranty I guess my house still needs to look nice so out it went. Anyone want it??? In my opinion, Milgard has gone downhill since the Milgard's sold and management changed. The head guy in my area Don Shores NEVER came out to look at the windows. Will only talk on phone and no e-mails to document anything. Expect him to call legal when you push him to honor a Milgard (no warranty) warranty. Your only recourse is going to be legal so my best opinion and advice is "DO NOT BUY MILGARD WINDOWS"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warranty replacement is awesome The small picture window in our family room was damaged from the outside several years ago, which caused the space between the double panes to become fogged up and dripping/stained with the collected moisture. Milgard replaced the glass - no questions asked. It took quite awhile to get the service appointment scheduled (over 9 months from first contact and rescheduled once by Milgard due to a technician shortage), but once the technicians arrived, they were very professional, courteous and quick. The entire replacement process took only about 20-25 minutes from their arrival to their departure. I couldn't have been more pleased with the result.
