Retrofit installation is beautiful
So happy with the quality of these beautiful windows and Chriswell Home Improvement who conducted the installation with professionalism, care, and courtesy. Definitely made a difference in the noise reduction, reduced glare from the sun, energy efficiency, and over all value! We are extremely pleased and Thank you!

Sliders are GREAT!, casements are another case…
I have replaced all the windows and patio doors in my home with Milgard (13 sliders 2 patio doors and 5 casement windows). I LOVE my sliders and patio doors! My favorite feature is the thermal UV treatment on the glass, which has made a significant difference in the temperatures on inside my home, especially on the west side.
The casements however, cannot function as an operational window in my application and NEED to provide ventilation in my closet bathrooms to prevent moisture and mold. I previously had casements with crank open/close hardware and was prepared for that. I thought that was an industry standard, little did I know, that is not what was ordered. The change in how the casements function was never discussed with me nor did I realize I needed to concern myself with what the screen looked like, let alone the hardware, none of which appears on the blueprint drawings.
Unfortunately the supplier doesn’t have a showroom with examples or brochure pamphlets flyers. They only offered blueprint type pictures which I had a difficult time discerning. I wasn’t given options. I was concerned about the direction the windows opened and didn’t realize I needed to concern myself with the hardware, let alone what the screen looked like, which did not appear on the blueprint drawings. The change in how the casements function was never discussed with me. I would have never purchased a screen that has a screen window within the screen.
The windows are EXTREMELY stiff and hard to open along with the design of the screen coupled with the application, and my age, deteriorating health and strength prevent my ability to open and close the windows fully from inside the house. I’m going have to crack it open from the inside and then go outside to pull it the rest of the way open, then to close, go back outside and push it shut, then go back inside to latch it locked. If these could be reworked to accommodate traditional casement hardware and screens then I could have functional windows that I’d be satisfied with.
On another note I received a window with two scratches inside between the panes of glass from the factory and still don’t know how to get the warranty repair or replacement.

Leaking
My Milgard Windows were installed on 2/26/2004. The window in one of the bedrooms was leaking from between the window frame and outside wall. I used silicone to caulk and fix it several years ago. Now the other window in the master bedroom is leaking when the wind blows the rain toward the window. I used silicone to caulk the outside wall and window frame can not fix the problem. Then I found the leaking was from window's frame itself!

Not bad I guess
I have never had "good" windows, so I really like them. I'm only giving 3 stars because they met my expectations, but didn't blow my socks off. The replacement window install was pretty basic, 4 to 6 screws, some foam and cheap plastic sticky tape and they were done. The installers could have put more attention to the foam insulation, as I saw gaps before they put on the tape trim. I was also surprised that the installers were using zinc screws. I guess they are good enough for most of the windows, but I changed out the screws in my bathroom to stainless. Also check your wireless signal strength before deciding to use the E glass. I can tell you it works because I don't feel the sun and my cell signal dropped significantly. I would recommend Milgard, but would caution folks to ask about the hardware and ensure your installers use plenty of insulating foam to completely seal the gaps. As for the wireless signal, if you are about -115dB before your windows go in, don't be surprised if you start missing or dropping calls.

Great product …… but,
Two, homes with Milgard windows have been great, however this remodel has been disappointing. One of the two windows received, had to be replaced due to a owed, out of square frame. Replacement resulted in construction delays, and when replacement received there are tooling scratches in the glass. We had to install 2nd defective window in order to avoid further delays, confident that Milgard will a make good on their product. They always have in the past.
