Casement Window FAQS

What are casement windows?

casement windows are a type of window that is hinged on one side and typically opens outward with a hand crank. It provides unobstructed views and excellent ventilation. These type of windows, especially French casement windows, come in varying styles that can bring differing charm to any room.

How to Replace Casement Windows

Replacement casement windows are easy to get ahold of, but it is not recommended to replace them yourself. Casement replacement windows have the ability to shatter when inserted wrong so make sure you talk to a trusted window installer before deciding to make the choice to replace these yourself. If you do decide that you want to replace these windows yourself, you must remove the old window, clean the entire opening where the new window will sit, then follow the manufactures directions to safely and accurately install the window to make sure they are square and will not let any unwanted airflow in or out of your house.

How Much do Casement Windows cost

All casement window prices will vary based on size and material you purchase, however on average they can range anywhere from $200- $1,300. Double casement windows will cost more as they have two crank handle openings and need adjustments to have the window open correctly. Additionally, AC for casement windows will have an effect on the overall cost as changes will need to be made in order to fit a unit out of the window.

How to Adjust Casement Windows?

To adjust a casement window, you must open it all of the way, and normally use a screwdriver to take the screws out of the operating arm on the inside of the window and move it to the opening amount that you wish to have, make sure that you have something to hold the pane of glass in place with the arm is uninstalled.

Casement Windows vs Double Hung Windows?

The difference between casement windows and double hung windows is that casement windows will open outward on what is called an operating arm, while double hung windows open up and down on balances.
