Emily Henderson is a well-known blogger, interior designer and stylist based out of Los Angeles, California. As a Season 5 winner of HGTV’s Design Star and a TargetStyle expert, she has the ability to convert any room into a space that represents the taste and personality of the people that are going to be occupying it.
Recently, Emily worked on a project in Portland, Oregon where she selected Milgard® UltraTM Series fiberglass replacement windows and patio doors. Fiberglass is known for its extreme strength and minimal up-keep, with great performance in most climates, so, it was a good fit for the Portland area. In this home, the frame color Black Bean was chosen for its contrasting modern look, which was achieved on both the interior and exterior with stunning results.
These were our favorite black framed window and patio door photos from the project and why we loved them! (See if you agree.)
Black Framed Bedroom Windows
The use of black colored window frames in this bedroom show how easily windows can become part of the interior design by tying them in with the furniture. Black window frames can be bold in light-colored rooms, but the addition of the black bed frame, patterned chair and chandelier tied everything together beautifully. The windows became a focal point in the room, so, simple white curtains were the perfect window treatment to blend into the walls during the day and provide privacy at night.

Black Framed French Patio Doors
The home also featured six sets of swinging patio doors. The contrasting black frames against the white molding resulted in a striking look highlighting the natural elegance of the French patio doors. The addition of the grids on the glass conveyed a classic look and added visual interest without compromising the view.
Elegant but Modern Dining Room
In the dining room, French out-swing patio doors are flanked by two casement windows. The matching grid patterns on both the windows and doors help maintain a cohesive look without appearing too busy. Together, the windows and doors immediately draw your eyes in with their dark, distinct look, but are complemented by the black accents and furnishings placed around the room.

Spacious Living Room
In the spacious living room, the crisp, black windows frame the outdoor view filled with beautiful greenery. By bringing some plants inside, the feeling of living in nature is carried into the home providing lovely green accents. The simple navy-blue window treatments allow the floor to ceiling windows to act as a focal point. The window seat was a great way to add even more space to the living area.
